Is the D300 compatible with non automatic lenses?

I have a number of Nikon and other brand camera lenses from film SLR's. Can the D300 accept these?

I'm assuming by automatic, you mean auto focusing? But yes, pretty much any (with some exceptions to the very early Nikon film cameras) Nikon lens, both digital and film camera lenses will fit on the D300. This also goes for manual and automatic focusing lenses. Be weary though, you will lose a lot of image stabilization and metering when using the older lenses, so if you could try and get a newer one.

Thanks for the quick response. It's helpful as I contemplate jumping into the digital world of more complex cameras.

The jump into the digital world is definitely a worthwhile jump in my opinion, and though they are digital as opposed to film, some of them are actually much easier to use, especially with digital manual controls that you could never have on film SLR cameras. I think the D300 is a great camera to start off with, especially if you have some base knowledge about photography and/or SLRs.
