The Nikon D5000 digital SLR is intended to be a more accessible alternative to the impressive D90 SLR, and carries many of that camera's features, like a 12.3-megapixel DX-format sensor and HD movie mode. The D5000 is capable of filming clips in 1280 x 720 pixel resolution. It also has a larger 2.7-inch variable angle LCD display. Nikon has the entry-level SLR down to a science, and the D5000 is an excellent choice for beginners looking to take their photography to the next level.
