Lived up to all expectations
( - 6/19/06)I purchased my D50 in January '06 to give myself time to get used to the camera before a vacation to Alaska, British Columbia and Oregon this May and early June. This camera was recommended by a family member who is a professional wedding photographer. This is an upgrade for me from a Canon S1IS. I have had extensive use of the Nikon FE2, N2020 and 8008s. This has given me both digital and Nikon experience, therefore the learning curve for the D50 was very short. I purchased the camera alone and added the 18-70mm Nikkor DX lens shortly after. I made about 700 images before the vacation and slightly less than 600 images on the vacation. The D50 lived up to all the expectations I was told to expect by my professional photographer relative. The only deleted images were due to poor composition - certainly not the camera's fault. The on-board flash has been more adequate than I expected. I consider myself an advanced amateur and would recommend the D50 to anyone. Two friends have the D70 and D70s respectively and I would match this the D50 with either of the others. I have not yet used the custom modes to any great extent as I tend to stay with shutter, or aperture priority. The D50 has done everything I have asked for and more. I recommend it highly.
