Nikon D50--awesome
(Tina - 10/1/06)This camera is absolutely amazing. I had been researching and waiting for just the right DSLR camera for the past 4 to 5 years. I've had a chance to roam around and try quite a few out. The pentax K100, comes with a great lens kit, however which i didn't care for the image colors, and when i would be fully zoomed in not enough light was making it to the picture making everything extremely dark. The Olympus E500, great lens kit...however everything I was shooting was out of focus, i needed a tripod to shoot with it. Canon Rebel...great camera, but I am not one to edit my pictures afterwards i like having the control to make it look like i picture without enhancing anything. However if you are into photo editing the camera is pretty decdent. So in the end i was actually going for the Nikon D80. Poor guy at the last store i ventured into i had him take out each camera, with a magnitude of different lenses both brands and sizes. My personal Choice in the end, when reflecting, price, quality and long term range was the body only for the Nikon D50, and a Sigma 55-200 lens. Absolutely amazing. I take all my shoots fully zoomed in without a tripod and the shots are impeccable. I never though for a second i would be satisfied with this camera to the point i am. It has surpassed my every expectation. I would recommend a nikon D50 to anyone looking for an Digital SLR.
Sigma lenses are not known to be that great. However, for the comfort level i preferred the focus ring on this one compared to the nikon. don't be fooled however, i am saving up for a Nikon 18-200 VR lens :) Gotta love those DSLR
