can i keep the shutter open without holding down the button in Bulb mode on the D-60, such as a sync cord?

Yes,you can set the mirror lock to ON in the menu. Go to the CSM Setup Menue then My Menue, custom Set up Menue then Mirror Lockup.

hey thanks Gary, i found the mirror lock up, But it does not work, i have it on manual mode, bulb setting but it still wont stay open, ????

Did you go to: Setup Menue
? Mirror Lock-Up> when shutter button is pressed, the mirror lifts and shutter opens.
To lower mirror, turn camera off.

yes i did that, and when i press and let off the button it shuts

well i should not say no lockup, but it will not lock up and allow you to take a photo, it's for cleaning only. Boooo nikon :-( this has also driven me crazy.
