Why make the D80 half as fast in the shutter speed as the D70? Is the Shutter Speed on the D80 fast enough?

I read that the reason for this lower shutter speed on the D80 is because it uses a straight mechanical shutter rather than a combination mechanical/ electronic shutter like other Nikons. It has to do with flash sync speed too (D70 has 1/500th, D80 has 1/200th, I think). But basically what I've heard from users is that most people don't use extremely fast shutter speeds anyhow. It's a rare situation that would require a 1/8000 shutter speed where 1/4000 wouldn't do just as well, so it seems Nikon ditched the higher speed in favor of other advanced features (which the D80 definitely has over the D70).

There is the factor that these super-fast shutter speeds can be used to control light when you have a wide aperture, but you can also use the camera's sensitivity settings to take care of that, so basically the speed of the D80 should be plenty fast enough for anything you want to do.

A camera is a tool whose use is defined by the user. Hence, two very basic questions arise. What is the lowest and highest shutter speeds and lense aperture settings on the D80 with included lense?
