How much should I be paying for a second hand D70S?

I'm trying to purchase 2 Nikon D70S, and I'm not sure what they are valued at now. The prices I've found so far have seemed quite high (the cheapest I've found is 525 euros, but it can go up to 750). (These prices are for the full kit with the lens and accessories). How much should I be paying for a second hand D70S?

What was its last retail price before it stopped being made?

Usually, when I'm looking to pick up a new camera or gadget used, the first place I swing by is eBay. If you're a member, you can do a search for completed auctions regarding the item in question and you can get a pretty good idea what people are paying for it. It's quite a large spread, but it D70s seem to be going for between $450 and $830 (lens included).

I'm actually hoping not to have to buy from e-bay, so as not to get into bidding.. I've been using other local second-hand sites (kapaza, koopjesnet, as I live in Belgium) as you can contact the seller more directly and get better info. But maybe ebay will be the way forward if it's a lot cheaper..

Do you know how much the camera was last sold at?

Well you don't really have to buy from eBay, but it will give you a good barometer for how it sells, so when you get a price, you can respond with a counter offer. And bidding isn't bad on eBay if you know tricks. Like Sniping a bid, or searching for items that are misspelled. Sometimes item auctions expire unnoticed or at a very low price because the seller misspelled the item name. More tips can be found at http://www.coolebaytools.com

If no objective is included, I would say, it can be around 200 - 300 Euro;
if an (not too good, like from a Nikon D70s - Kit) objective is included, it can be 400 - 550 Euro.
