General advice on choosing the right Nikon Digital Camera

I'm an owner of the F80 camera - time to go digital and thinking of sticking with Nikon. But recent reviews are citing condensation, the D50 also slightly more popular - happy to pay extra for the D70 though if genuinely worth it. Any general advice ? Also take it the lenses I have for the F will be compatible ? Also the D80 is due out - worth considering ?
