Does the old Autofocus Speedlight SB-24 flash function properly on the Nikon D70s?

The above flash functioned properly on a borrowed D70, but appears not to work on the D70s, even though the shoe fits properly. Do I need to change settings somewhere to cause it to work?

Mr. Keough solved my problem. The flash does work, but only under manual controls. I've used it now following instructions he identified and it works fine.
