Hi! Can anyone tell me what kind of lens to buy: 18-200mm, 18-55mm &55-200mm or 18-250mm for Nikon D50? I will do both landscape and portrait shots.

If you're doing both portrats and landscape, you'll want the wide angle of the 18mm. If you're doing close up shots, then you don't need much zoom, but if you're taking pictures further away (such as sports), you'll want a higher zoom, such as 200-250mm. The 18-200mm and the 18-250mm will be the most versatile, but will cost the most as well. The 18-55mm will be plenty if you don't plan on shooting portraits far away, and will save you on cost. So it really just depends what shots you're shooting and how much you want to spend. Hope this helps, if you have any other questions feel free to ask.

Thank you so much. Why is 18-200 mm more expensive than 18-250mm? Does it have any advantages even though zoom is shorter?

The 18-200mm probably is higher quality, either with a motor inside of the lens to help with focusing, or better quality glass and make. There isn't really any advantage of a shorter zoom, but there will be advantages to the better quality lens (faster focusing and better quality pictures). I would go with the 18-200mm even though its less zoom and more expensive because the quality will be worth it.

Thank you again!Would you recommend to buy only Nikon lens or less expensive Nikkor, or Tamron, or Sigma? Do I really need to buy a 5-year warranty? Thanks a lot!

I like the Nikon lenses the best, best quality glass, best quality lenses. If you want to save money go with Tamron, they make the best quality 3rd party lenses. If you take good care of your lenses, which you should, you really won't need to buy the 5 year warranty, because most are made well, so if they aren't broken when you receive them, they will not break over time.

Aditya, could you tell me a little about memory cards? I bought 2 GB to my compact camera for 24$, and on the web memory sticks to D80 cost from 200$? Are they much different? Do you happen to know PristigeCamera.com? They have good prices but I'm not sure about the site. Thank you.

I haven't really heard about that site, so I wouldn't trust it at all. Use a verified and trusted site like amazon.com to buy everything. I believe the D80 takes compact flash cards, which tend to be more expensive, and you should definitely get a high speed one, it will be worth it in the long run. I don't know about the $200 price, but I haven't checked in a while, so that could be right, usually you can find the high speed ones cheaper at a retail store like Best Buy when they go on sale.
