Even without the movie mode, the D90 is a superior camera, with a 12MP sensor and Live View LCD.

I was recently at a Photographic Digital Imaging show and got so see some of the test images on the Nikon D90. Even at ISO ranges of 1600 the images are pretty clean. Meaning there is only small amounts of graininess. This is a great improvement over the D80. Also The D90 has a newer and faster processor. The LCD screen on the D90 is a gorgeous 3 in. screen and is very clear. It is the same one as what is in the D300 and the top-of-the-line pro model the D3. If you shoot sports, the D90 gives you 4.5 fps vs 3 fps on the D80. Over all the D90 is a superior camera utilizing some of Nikon's latest technologies. And yes the HD movie is also a very nice benefit. For a good comparison of the two cameras visit http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/nikond90/ Dpreview explains some of the differences and benefits of one over the other quite well.
