Yeah, its definitely odd that Nikon didn't put the feature in the P90. Guess the target market was more amateur, than semi-pro, and they didn't think many people would do extreme photo editing.

The reason RAW is typically not offered on PnS cameras is because if it were, nobody would buy DSLRs because the PnS photos would be just as good for half the price. Most cameras use high compression levels to make sure the images don't have enough quality to use in blowup print (mags, rags, etc), thereby locking professional photogs into expensive, DSLR cameras. Using compression has nothing to do with saving space on your CF card. It has everything to do with making PnS cameras unusable for professional apps.
