Too slow, bad powersuply.

I believe this is a good camera, though I am not an expert on these things.
Nevertheless there are som problems. Waaaay to slow; you see something you want to take a picture of, you got it focused, press the button, three seconds pass and you get a shot of something other than you wanted.
This camera realy eats the batteries, even rechargeables.
I have one queestion: When I put in som fully charged batteries, the batteryindicator shows red and not green. Is this because the batteries are wrong for this camera or what?
