I am having a similar problem with my Olympus D-395 and my 1GB and 2GB xD cards. When you say they "will not format", do you mean just on the camera, or also on the PC? If these cards read fine on a PC, this may be the same problem I'm having. If I find a solution, I'll share it with you.

Carole,

You might check to see if the cards are locked. There is a white toggle along the side that switches up and down. There should also be a picture to show which is the locked position. Make sure your cards are in the unlocked position, and they should format.

If this is not the issue, you might have a bad connection inside the camera. I would recommend getting in touch with Olympus product support. I hope this helps.

Andrew

Gentlemen, I thank you both. Neither card has a white tab for locking...looks like they never had those tabs in the first place. I will try the support line, and thanks again . Carole
