Wonderful camera
( - 11/23/05)This is a great camera. It doesn't get enough respect from 'pro' reviewers. Colors are great straight from the camera (jpeg). When I first bought it, there were some metering issues, but thos issues were cleared up with updates. One of the prime reasons I chose this camera over the others that were available in the sub-$1000 price range at the time (Canon DRebel, *ist DS) was because of the great ergonomics. It fit like a glove from the minute I first handled it. Even after the DRebel 350XT, Nikon D50, KonicaMinolta 5D came out, I still would've prefered the Evolt E300.
The ONLY issue I would genuinely consider n issue is the high ISO performance, specifically at ISO 1600. 800 is usable after NoiseNinja or NeatImage.
The kit lenses outshine all of the other kit lens offerings, they are tack sharp. Hands down THE winner here.I have both the 14-45 f3.5-f5.6 lens as well as the 40-150 f3.5-f5.6. They perform quite admirably.
Image quality is excellent. Again, the Oly colors are great. Not oversaturated, comparable to Kodak's Royal Gold film from back in the day (now Kodak High Def film). The images can be printed straight from the camera, without post-processing.
Accessories can be a little pricey. I want to get the Fl-50 flash, but will wait till it comes down a little more, if it does.
All in all, I am very content with my purchase after thousands of shots. for examples, check out my account at pbase at www.pbase.com/shinndigg
