Olympus E-520 Details
Editors' Comments
Olympus continues to build incrementally on their digital SLR roster with the Evolt E-520, an upgrade to last year's E-510. The new camera picks up a number of tricks from the more powerful Evolt E-3, as well as some features all its own. The biggest technical feature is the new contrast detection AF mode, which allows the camera to autofocus even when the mirror is in the up position. Also included are a larger LCD screen, face detection, and a greater dynamic range than the E-510. As with most recent Olympus dSLRs, it offers sensor-shift image stabilization and Olympus's Supersonic Wave Filter to rid the sensor of dust particles. A fine pro-consumer dSLR, the E-520 should compete well with similar offerings from Canon, Nikon, Pentax, and Sony.
