Black spot on the LCD monitor and images.

I bought one FE-340 two months ago. It was excellent. But suddenly, after 2 weeks as I was learning various ways to shoot better pictures; a black spot started appearing on the monitor. It is visible on the images as well. Could anyone kindly let me know what causes this problem and how this can be rectified? Please note I know that I need to take it to vendor but I would like to know the details. Thank you.

Have you cleaned the lens? Use a microfibre cloth to clean it real good. Then, I would do is reset the camera. This is a fairly easy procedure which involves either going into your setup menu and choosing "reset" (or intialize), holding down the menu key for 5 seconds, or, removing the batteries for a few minutes. It may be that the firmware loading got corrupted and the camera just needs to be "rebooted," which is something that turning it on/off won't accomplish. But after which, you should have the camera reset to factory default settings.

If it still appears, you should probably send it to Olympus for a warranty repair.
