How can I get my FE180 to take pictures more quickly?

It seems to take forever for the camera to make the picture taking noise. And inevitably, what I see at the moment of the noise is never the same as the photo that shows up. Also, the lcd does not load the pictures quickly to view them. Is there a setting that speeds this u? Can you tell I'm not in love with this camera?

Interesting, because reviews I've read list the shutter lag as very responsive, about 0.6-second lag between button press and shot, and with only the Cyber Shot DSC-S600 being faster at .4 seconds for a similar model. Now, if you're talking about taking shot after shot non stop, then it's longer at 1.3 seconds or thereabouts.

Shutter lag is an inevitable part of digital cameras. Some of the more expensive models have a faster lag, but there's no lag setting that I'm aware of other than being able to anticipate the action.

But the good news is, that the lag window is closing as digital cameras become more advanced.

Thanks, James. I don't think it's operator error here. It just seems that in darker settings, lighter settings, or when there is a lot of movement, it takes forever to take the picture. I've tried everything from holding my finger down only quickly to holding it for longer...taking multiple shots in a row. Maybe I have a lemon? I had a digital camera from 1999 that took pictures so quickly and loaded them in the lcd for review so quickly. I could be spoiled by the older, simpler digicam. Thanks again.

You could try and camera reset and see if it helps.
