Which camra takes good pictures in low light, Nikon coolpixP80 or Olympus SP-565

I find myself taking pictures in low light settings when I go to my grandoughters dance recital and if I'm at an out door setting and want to take a picture from a distance.

The P80 has a bad wrap of poor low light performance. I have used both the SP550 and SP560 and found the low light images to be nominal. I would expect the SP565 to be an improvement. Far better than what the P80 is known to be giving.

All of the 1/2.3"-1/2.5" (Or smaller sized) standard CCD sensor size cameras have bad wraps (Rightfully so) for performing in low light. ISO 400 produces quite a bit of noise and ISO 800+ tend to be blurry messes on all of them.

The SP-565 gives a slight advantage over the P80 in low light situations- but you really want to consider a camera with a larger sensor (Fuji, Panasonic G series, Samsung NX- when they release it, Sigma DP- has a full size SLR sensor except they put a prime lens on their camera, Olympus micro three fourths- when they release it) or from a company that has pushed their designers to work on their sensor technology to perform in low light (Eg; Ricoh and Fuji). The P90 did not improve on the image quality under low light levels.

The P80 also has a bad wrap for unreliable focus at long distances.
