What size SLR lens would a 20X Zoom compare or be equal to?

If I had a SLR Camera with interchangeable lenses, which mm size lens would equal a 20X zoom?
Is there a formula for calculating?

Jerry,

The 20x equivalent really applies to what the minimum focal length of the point and shoot is. If the minimum length of the point and shoot is 35mm (like many cameras), then the 20x applies to that length times twenty; this makes the maximum 700mm. For this particular camera (the Olympus SP570UZ), the lens equivalent is 26-520mm; 26 x 20 = 520. Good luck and happy shooting.

Andrew,

I assume you are a photographer. Do you have a website that shows your photos?

I have always wished I had taken the time to learn more about photography.

Hi there I purchased a Fuji Finepix S9500 with a 10.7 optical lens about 2 years & i have been very pleased with the results. The mistake that i made was not buying a camera with interchangable lenses.
however I have been looking at the Sony Alpha 700 & it seems to be what I am looking for. The information I require is on lenses, I like to photograph (flying aircraft) & I find that my finepix does not pull the subject in close enough sugestions on lens & camera compatibility will be very much appreciated.

Regards Rick
