does this one work underwater?

On one website I was looking at info on the 1010 it said that it has "underwater wide" modes... does this one work underwater? Also any idea how fast the camera recovers to take the next picture?

it says online under alot of reviews that it is ok for it to be splashed or near water incase of those water mishaps and that the case is only used if you want to go down more than 15 feet. Is this true?

Not true. This camera does NOT have the seals for that kind of activity. Just go to the Olympus site and you will see the four current models that are water proof and they DON'T include the 1010. Even two of the four models listed as water proof are only specified as that for 10 feet.

We bought our camera on a [Carnival] cruise. Although we bought it in port, it was being sold on the ship, and they had one that was tied to a chain and dumped into a clear bucket of water, for hours at a time, you could take it out and use it and then put it back in the water. It worked fine. The camera clearly was advertised as "waterproof" (not "resistant", but "proof") down to some depth that I don't recall.
