What is the practical difference between the 1050 SW and the Tough 6000? They look to be about the same price, and have similar specs.

Olympus recently renamed the SW series to give it a more appeal for it's features. They do look the same. It's probably a cosmetic thing. The 1050SW is a good camera for it's rugged nature. Either one will do if you're hard on your rig.

The tough series has dual image stabilisation. I believe that in addition to the SW's "digital" stabilization the Tough series seem to have a mechanical or some other stabilization, too. I've read that the digital stabilization can do add things with ISO and other settings which are not ideal in all situations.

Again, the fact that they have different types of stabilization is right there on the olympus site, but I couldn't find any solid reviews that talk about if that really matters in teh real-world.
