Problem with fe-230, unable to go to capture mode

Hi, I have an Fe-230 for quite some time. I have been having a problem with it. When I turn it on, instead of going to capture mode, it directly goes to transfer mode, as if it is connected to the computer via a cable. even though no cable is attached :S
It gives up the menu to select the options for transfer mode i.e. Pc, easy print, custom print, exit.
If i click on exit it says disconnect the cable.. but there is no cable connected!!!!!
If I connect a cable and then do the same, then it turns off. And when i turn on again, its the same problem!!! So I am unable to take pictures anymore...
Can anyone help me out, how to fix the problem??
Thanks in advance

This does sound unusual but I would take out the battery and wait for sometime before re-inserting it.
This cuts off the power supply to the RAM and hopefully it will clear it. ( most dynamic RAM do without electricity )

The camera will now be reset to the default value which you can start all over again from fresh.
Give it a try, it may work. If it doesn't, keep this question open and somebody, somewhere, somehow, will find a solution.

Hi, thanks for replying. I have tried that a lot of times, but its of no use. There seems to be a permanent glitch in the camera software.
Is there a way to reset or re-install the camera software without sending it to the cutomer service?
Because I bought the camera in Pakistan, but now im in Norway and I dont have the gurantee slips or anything. so its not easy to get it fixed from the customer service.

Regards.

The problem about reset is most of it are menu driven except for the often used procedure of removing the battery.
Perhaps you could try leaving the camera without battery for 3 days as stated on page 47 of the manual and see whether there is any difference.

The built in program is written in the firmware, which can be re-installed if you have a copy of it.
