when lens cover is open no image can be seen on LCD screen

lens were retracting when cover was open but no more, problem now is images cannot be seen on lcd screenfor taking pictures although saved images on xd card can be seen

First this I would do is reset the camera. This can be as easy as removing the batteries for a few minutes to going into your menu settings and selecting reset. This will restore the camera to the default menu settings. I'd also go to Olympus' website and download and install the latest firmware updates. Get a fresh battery into the camera as well as underpowered or depleted batteries can affect camera performance.

If these steps don't restore your camera's LCD, you may need to send it in for servicing. And with the average camera repair running about $180, it'll probably be cheaper to simply buy a newer and more updated model.
