Panasonic DMC-FX9

I transferred a full 128mb CS card's worth of pictures to my computer. the next time I took my camera out it said it was full after 4 pictures. I transferred those from my camera and turned it on again, and this time it won't read the card at all. It says the memory is full right away. I tried a different card with the same result. When I lower the picture size and quality an empty card gets 3 pictures. With the default settings, it shows that the card is full.

Hi mbear,

When you transferred the pictures from your computer, did you delete them from the memory card afterward? Transferring pictures doesn't usually delete them from the camera--you usually have to do it manually, in-camera in one of the menus. On the FX9, you have several options to get rid of the pictures on your memory card.

1. Assuming you're running Windows XP, when the camera is connected to your computer via USB you can open My Computer from the start menu/desktop and find your camera in the list of devices/drives. Double click on it and you should get a folder full of pictures. You can delete the pictures from there.

2. On the in-camera display, open the Play menu. Scroll down to Format and select it. You'll be given a Yes/No on formatting. Say yes and the card will be cleaned and initialized.

3. You can individually delete each picture by hitting the bottom right-hand button on the back of the camera in playback mode. You'll be given a Yes/No; hit Yes. Doing it this way will take a while, though, and I don't recommend it as a means to clean the entire card.

Good luck!

Thanks for your answer! ^^ However, the cards I tried were both formatted. Nothing shows up either in the camera or on my computer as being on the cards, and there's nothing for me to delete.
