my camera flashes "no memory card" when card(s) is/are present

my camera flashes "no memory card" but it is installed and I just transferred its 160+ pics to a mac notebook. Now it won't read my nor my brother's 1GB SD memory card. I've turned it off and back on, tried reinserting the card before and after turning the camera off and back on. Nothing seems to work. What can I do?

It probably has a lot to do with the transfer of pictures because for a camera to read the card, the latter must not be 'contaminated', for short of a better description, by any writing, records, delition or whatever by the operating system or for the matter viruses.

Before doing anything else, check and clean the card for finger prints, dirt or anyting that may have been left on the contact points of the card while you take it out and reinserting into the camera.

2. If you are satisfied the transferred pictures are OK and retrieval of photos is no longer necessary, reformat the card using the camera.

I'd been trying to make sure the camera was clean...inspecting the card blowing off the card and the camera like the old school nintendo system. upon looking again into the loading cartridge, I see that the metal retaining bracket for te sd card isn't attached on one side....so I snap it back into place and; Now everything works fine again!!!!

I had the same problem, I looked at my dmc-fx9 again after several failed attempts at everyting, and missing a weekend trip!!! I pulled the battery again, tried a third card that came with the camera, and then couldn't get the battery back in because a metal clip that surrounds the memory card was sticking out. I remembered reading the previous comment and pushed it back into place with a small wooden stick, and it now works fine!!!! I'm just glad I don't have to mail it in somewhere. Thanks!!!

I'm having the same problem. It worked just fine about 10 minutes ago, but after i uploaded pictures and put the card back into the camera it's saying "no memory card". I don't know how to reformat the card.
