My Lumix FZ20 started to record blurred images from time to time. Now, the camera makes a motor sound when turning on and off, but no picture. Ideas?

If it is under warranty, send it for service. If not contact Panasonic Customer service anyway, that's the best thing you can do.

Thank you for your response. The camera is no longer under warranty. I have contacted both an online and a local repair shop. Their estimated repairs were similar as was their price--$200 to $220. I think I could buy an equivalent camera (FZ8K) for about $20 dollars more. But, I am not sure that I can trust Panasonic cameras any more. I once had a Nikon that sat in water for a week. I put it in the oven on low for a couple of hours and when it cooled off it worked fine. Maybe I was lucky or maybe it was just a Nikon!

Matt,

I think you were just lucky. I've been answering questions here for a good long while now, and I've seen complaints against every single manufacturer of cameras there is. I wouldn't lose faith in Panasonic over this one, though I would compare the FZ8 to it's competition before jumping into buying one. Check out the Sony H9, the Canon S5 IS, and the Olympus SP-550UZ, at the very least.

Good luck!
