Can't get FZ30 to talk to my PC

I am trying to use an FZ30 with my PC. It is setup for PC connection an says so on the screen. But no matter what I do I cannot get to see the removable drive. I have moved the sd card to an older camera and can copy the images across that way but not straight from the FZ30, any advice?

Are you using Windows XP? If so you should not have to install the camera drivers, but if you're using a different system it may be a matter of installation. If the drivers for the older camera are installed but these aren't, that would explain why that one works and this one doesn't.

I have experienced this issue myself and it turned out that the USB port on the side of my camera did not work. Another possibility, although a really difficult one to prove (I spent an hour on the phone with Canon customer service before we narrowed it down to that).

Have you tried a USB card reader? It's much easier than trying to sort out crappy drivers and bloated sofware.

A card reader is about $10 and will cause your sd card to be read as a drive on the PC. Then it's a simple drag and drop.
