Minimum focus distance is 2 inches (wide, macro). The lens barrel bocks the flash output at that close a distance so you will need an external falsh or a well lit subject. The flash starts to get blocked at about 5 or 6 inches or closer. At 2 inches I can get a quarter to fill about 2/3 of the screen from top to bottom.
