My LZ3 worked for a year exactly, and now it won't turn on. How can I get it to turn on?

I got the camera in December, 2006; it worked wonderfully for a year. It stopped turning on in early January 2008. I left it with my dad for a while, who got it to turn on again by holding the stabilize button. It worked for about 6 months, and now won't turn back on. My dad can't get it this time, either. I've bought new NMH rechargeable batteries and tried those, too. They didn't have any effect on the camera. I'd really like to keep this camera, any suggestions for how I can get it to turn on?

If you hit the stabilize button and the camera turned on, its possible that something in the camera is loose, and either the stabilize button may have temporarily pushed it back in place, or the stabilize button triggered the on/off switch. It could actually be a variety of problems as well, even having to do with a broken connector the the battery. The good news is that it sounds like nothing major is broken, so it won't cost too much to repair, but the bad news is that to figure out what's wrong you'll probably have to take it to a camera repair shop, who will take it apart and can diagnose the problem.
