What under $200 digital camera is the most durable? I want a camera that isn't too fragile.

I am concerned about cameras that have quality issues. Easy to break or are so fragile they stop working quickly. I want something that can withstand being carried and move about.

It doesn't get great reviews on this site, but I am a big fan of the Olympus Stylus 710. I love the image quality and the price is well below $200. The main reason I am bringing it up is because, like most of the Olympus models, this camera has a very durable metal body (with, I think, some titanium mixed in) and is ding-proof as well as resistant to moisture. That doesn't mean you can drop it in the bathtub, but it is much more "travel friendly" and "weather friendly" than most cameras on the market. Here's the lineup of the other Olympus cameras if you want to check out models besides the 710.

Well, if you're looking for total reliability, the best cameras are the Nikon F series pro 35mm SLR bodies. These were (and are) used in the most inhospitable conditions in the world, and are probably the most durable cameras ever made. You can find a used Nikon F3 for under $200, and it features incredible weather sealing, simple design, and aperture priority exposure mode. An F3 will serve you well for years to come, and the image quality you'll get from manual focus Nikon lenses will beat the snot out of any miniature digital camera. The downside is that you'll have to buy film - slide film has the best quality. Of course, modern small digital cameras are more convenient, but an old pro camera will serve you much more reliably, and you'll even learn a thing or two about photography.
