Canon SD 800 IS vs Panasonic FX01

The Canon SD800 IS is costly. Is there another camera (Panasonic FX01?) with comparable product details to the Canon 800 as in ......viewfinder, wide angle, compact. What others should I be looking at?
Thanks.

No, to my knowledge, Panasonic has stopped providing the useful optical view finder. I just purchased a ultra-compact digital camera, with an LDC screen only, and the LDC screen was completely dark when shooting in bright sun light. I purchased the Canon SD 800 IS, am glad I did.

The viewfinder on SD Canons is a toy. It's very small and doesn't exactly allow you to view the entire image, only around %90 of it. If framing things perfectly is more your forte I wouldn't be going for an ultra compact...

I have the Panasonic FX01 and swear by the quality of the pics it produces, no viewfinder never truly deters me as I never use them in practice (count how many times you do on a trip). If you shop around you'll get the panasonic for around £169 or the uprated version FX07 for around £199.
I took this to america along with a d200 and you have to look hard to tell the difference on the pics, such a little difference that i sold the d200 on returning to the uk. I can't vouch for the canon, i have never seen it but the panasonic is great in every way
