You may need to move up in price range to get this feature. I recently purchased the Nikon D200 - it has no noticable lag time between press and take. It is an excelent camera and highly recomended. My daughter is a swimmer - breaststroke, & I had to press the button when she was under water "hopeing" that by the time the camera "clicked" she would be at the top of her stroke. Now that is not a problem as the image is taken immediately I press the button. Its other features are also impressive with profeesional like quality.
