Good camera, has lots to offer (Chuck - 10/24/08)

I have not had it for long, but so far I have been very satisfied with it. I bought mine for $275. Any new high-performance camera, from the big companies such as Canon or Sony, will be atleast $250. So I would not say this is an expensive camera at all.

Now is it worth the money? Well there are three things customers look at: features, image quality, design. It has 5x optical/5x digital zoom. Few cameras today have these zoom specs. Its loaded with other features such as face detection, widescreen mode, 10.1 megapixels, etc. The most useful is how fast single shots take. There is literally only a 1 second cooldown between single shots, making it one of (if not) the fastest camera out right now.

Now, image quality, I don't think Panasonics are at the level yet of Sony/Canon/Nikon, but the margin of difference is minimal with their newer models such as the FX37. It is far better than just above average. On a scale of 1 to 10, image quality for the FX37 would be 8-9.

As for design, if you went shopping for this camera in a store, you will probably find this one of the most attractive cameras. Not only is the design nice, its extremely compact. The best comparison size-wise would probably be an iPhone except a bit wider.

If theres any drawbacks its probably just the image quality not being the best-of-the-best, despite the fact that it is still of terrific quality. Also, the camera itself lacks much manual control, especially with some of the features. However, if you want a camera that looks good and delivers, get a FX37.
