frozen camera panasonic fz28 "system error (zoom) how to fix?

I am getting message "system error (zoom) the zoom is frozen and I can't use the camera. I need it to work as I am in africa on vacation. what to do?

Try turning off your image stabilization and see if it works. You may need to reset your camera and if a good internet connection is available, check Pansonic for a firmware update that addresses the issue. Outside of that, is it really humid there? If so, condensation may be wreaking havoc on your system. Try keeping it in a ziplock with a cup of uncooked rice to draw out any moisture which is causing the problem.
