External Flash for FZ50

FZ50 does have a hot shoe for external falsh, but does it mean only Panasonic Flash units(which I find are very expensive)? Ignoring the TTL function can the FZ50 be attached with any flash unit by any manufacturer?

It looks like as of right now Panasonic is your only option. Can anyone else find external flash options for the FZ50?

My Metz 45 CL-4 will work in Auto modes and Manual, but not TTL, using the correct cable and adapter from Metz.

Metz external flashes at one time weren't fully compatible with Panasonic digital cameras. Metz now has an sca adapter 3202 m6 that fits between hot shoe and external flash unit that should take care of the TTL problem. Adapter costs around $118. I am still a little leery of that set-up because Metz doesn't mention Vista in acquiring updates, just XP and a Mac system. If anyone has an update on this, I'd appreciate knowing it.
