Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2, viewfinder display is black, other display info is working

I have a Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX2, I have not used it for a couple months and the viewfinder display is black. It will display images (from another media card I put in to test). The shutter clicks, but the image is black, the camera does allow me to delete the "black" picture it just supposedly processed. The other display indicators (battery level, settings, appear to display normally). I have seen other postings on the internet for this same problem, occurring after the camera was not used for awhile, but no answers. I removed the battery, reset camera settings to factory defaults, no luck. Panasonic tech support says to send it in to their repair facility and they are not aware of any "known issues", which I don't believe based on the other issues I saw. Terry

Well, I'd search Panasonic's website for service advisories. Sounds like a faulty CCD chip. I'm betting they'll just reflash the firmware and bring it back up to speed. I'd send it in and see what happens ...
