New LZ7 turns off after 10 seconds

I started to have trouble with this new camera when I installed the Panasonic Oxyride batteries. After being ON for about 10 seconds, the camera message "PLEASE REPLACE THE BATTERIES" appeared and it shut off. So, I put in two NEW Duracell batteries and changed the battery setting to Alkaline batteries. Again, after about 10 seconds, the message "PLEASE REPLACE THE BATTERIES" appeared and it shut off. Both pairs of batteries test VERY STRONG after removal from the camera. I tried...as suggested in a forum...turning on the camera and immediately supressing the flash function, to disengage the flash feature from the system. Camera still shut off in 10-12 seconds. This never happened with my last LZ7, which was a camera I loved and why I bought a new one. I used my last LZ7 for about 18 months until it was stolen in June, 2009. This problem acts like a firmware issue, so if I can download new s/w that fixes the bug, I'll do so.

That's my recommendation. First, reset the camera. Then clean the battery contacts with pencil eraser. And install any available firmware update. I'd also make sure your batteries are powerful enough (rated by mAh). You'd need at least 2500 to 3000 mAh to satisfy the high energy needs of the camera.
