The Nikon S&c is a great sleek little camera which is super for travelling because of its compact size. It has all the features that cameras of its size and in its price range should have but I am concerned with the lack of zoom. When travelling it is nice to be able to have a quality zoom to get in close for those pictures of famous large things. This does have 'vibration reduction' which I don't have experience with but I can only guess that it doesn't reduce the blurriness attributed to a shaky hand all that much, and a camera like this can be hard to hold. If you do go for this model be sure to buy an extra memory card and small protective case because those 3 inch LCDs don't like inside of a backpack all that much.

The Nikon Coolpix 5900 is a better choice but it still suffers from the lack of zoom.

The camera I would go with is the Panasonic Lumix TZ1 . The price is right it has image stablization and it is small, plus an amazing 10x optical zoom. Surely your best bet.
