Can I wirelessly upload pictures to my or someone elses notebook computer that has wifi capability?

Same question re the Nikon - I am looking for a camera that can be taken in to field and photos wirelessly updated to notebook computers with wi-fi capability. I don't want to go through T-Mobile or anyone elses network - just the camera and the notebook without having to remove the card or having to carry around connecting wires. Is there any camera other than the Kodaks with Bluetooth that will give me this ability?

I don't believe Nikon, or any other WiFi camera for that matter, has that option of yet. I do know that there is a camcorder being developed that will have that feature. But for now, I believe all require you have to upload to a third party server and then download them.

The issue is that of file sharing. You have to open your OS accept file sharing from other media on the network.

You can, if your camera uses SD card because nowadays, there are WiFi SD card that will automatically download all pictures from your camera to your computer if both are within the range of your home network.

What this means is after you have taken the pictures with the card, as soon as you step within the range of your home network, the WiFi card connects to the computer automatically and download all the photos.

WiFi cards are sold in SD formats, and works with any camera that uses SD cards. Sony, using memory sticks, would lose out on this convenience.

For more information on Wifi Cards, you can refer to this site on Lexar WiFi SD cards or this site on Eye-Fi WiFi SD card.
