Pentax dSLRs to Support High Capacity SD Cards

Following the release of the new SD-HC memory cards, Pentax is providing support with a firmware update for its popular SLRs.

From Pentax - Sep 8, 2006

The SDHC (HC for High Capacity) cards can potentially hold up to 32GB of data, though right now the highest available SDHC card is 8GB.

Pentax has released a firmware update for their '*ist' line of SLRs, as well as the new K100D. An update for the K110D is expected next week.

This update will allow pentax users to store an astonishing amount of photos on a single, wafer-thin memory card, perfect for shutter-happy SLR enthusiasts.

The Digital SLR According to Pentax

Not to be outdone, Pentax releases their own Digital SLR guide not long after Canon's makes its debut.

From Pentax - Jul 25, 2005

Just a few weeks after Canon released its online digital SLR guide, the people at Pentax have put together their own interactive web site. The site details the differences between SLRs and standard digital cameras, gives an in depth look at the camera's parts and functions, and even includes a historical overview of Pentax cameras all the way back to 1952's Asahiflex I. Pentax has come a long way from that first camera, and their new *ist DL should be widely available very soon.

Upcoming Pentax *ist DL is a Perfect Fit for Old Lenses

The user-friendly Pentax *ist DL SLR bridges the gap for those who do not want to give up their expensive collection of accessories.

From New York Times - Jul 1, 2005

Nice Fit: Old Lens on a New Digital S.L.R.

The New York Times spotlights Pentax's new *ist DL, a digital SLR that offers versatility and ease of use to consumers looking for a high grade camera. In particular, the *ist DL's features the ability to accept old Pentax lenses, a great solution for those who have acquired plenty of costly accessories in years of film photography. The Pentax *ist DL makes the transition far easier, and allows your equipment to evolve from film to digital naturally, avoiding the painful and expensive process of starting from scratch.
