The perfect Digital SLR
( - 2/9/06)16 years of using nikon cameras (f-301, fm, fm3a), I have been waiting for a digital camera that is built as well as those, is compact, and does not get in the way of my photography. The nikon d50 lacks a couple of features I wanted and feels like a child's camera, the d70s had everything that I wanted but is the size of a small truck, the canon 350d also feels like a toy with fisher price build quality.
The istDS feels perfect in hand, is easy to control without delving into menus and I can use old manual lenses, so manual focussing remains precise. I cannot thank Pentax enough. I only wish their marketing was better, so that people did not seem to think that pentax/nikon was the only choice.
