The thrill is back
( - 9/19/05)I still remember how thrilled I was when I bought my first Pentax Spotmatic nearly 30 years ago. The precision of through the lens viewing, ease of use and outstanding picture quality made photography enormous fun. I felt much the same excitement when I first began shooting with the *ist DS. Solid, compact and easy to use, I was reluctant to put the camera down during my vacation in northern Michigan this summer. The 18-55mm zoom lens made composition a snap, and I could move in for a closeup of an insect in macro mode almost instantly. Colors came out brilliant and saturated with a range of contrast that rivals the finest transparency film. My first Pentax taught me to love photography; the *ist DS has rekindled the flame.
