Vivitar lenses on K100d$

We have many Vivitar screw-on lenses. Can they be used with the K100D with an adapter?

Hi Maymee,

If those lenses are for the Pentax screw-mount (M42) system, there are many adapters available. I'd recommend the one you can get directly from Pentax, as it's guaranteed to work.

Good luck!

Dear Ben Keough: Thank you so much for your answer. It will save us hundreds of dollars for the lenses we don't have to buy. I was told by someone else that we could not use the old lenses. Happy Day! Maymee

Yeah, it's wonderful the way many manufacturers have worked to make their new cameras reverse compatible with their older lenses. One thing you should bear in mind, though, is that you'll have to manually meter with these lenses in addition to manually focusing. You'll also have to shoot in a non-auto mode, obviously.

Also, be sure that the lenses you have are for the Pentax screw-mount system and not for some other brand's, as the adapter I linked to only works to convert the M42 mount.
