What is the biggest SD card the Optio 550 can use?

Leaving for China in 3 days and can get 3 of the 4gig SD cards for the price of the 1gig. I just don't want to keep an eye on 10 cards if I can take 3. The 4gig card has a lable the states 4gig SDHC, can I use it?

2 gig SD card will be the maximum capacity that is compatible with Optio 550.

You can buy Sandisk, Kingston or Toshiba, but keep to the 2 gig limit for each card. Above that you will probably have problems.

I’ve had a Pentax Optio 550 digital camera since July 2003.

It's still going well after many years of heavy use, and travels with me everywhere in my backpack.

The only problem is that the larger the SD card I use, the longer it takes to save it’s pictures.

I have been forced to stick to 128MB SD cards as the save speed only takes a fraction of a second.

If I use a 256 MB card it takes approximately 2 seconds to save the photo.

A 1GB SD card takes about 5 second to save the photo.

A 2 GB SD card takes about 8 second to save the photo.

It’s really annoying.

I’ve got piles of 1 & 2 GB cards that I can’t use.

Has anyone found a fix for this problem or knows why this happens.
