Is there a solution for the battery problem?

I understand there are a lot of problems with this camera, but if I could find some way to make the batteries last longer it would help until I can replace the camera. Please HELPPPP!!

There are several tricks that you can do to help your batteries last a bit longer, though I don't know how much they'll really improve the overall battery life. But, turn off the LCD and use the viewfinder when taking pictures, do not review pictures because that takes 4x as much battery as taking a picture, and finally do not use the flash. Doing these things will help a bit, but how much I'm not sure. Hope this helps.

Also consider using Energizer Lithium rechargeable batteries, which will definitely up your battery life greatly, and they can be recharged and reused.

Aditya and Ella,
This camera does not have a viewfinder. The LCD is the only means to compose, and view, the pictures.

To enjoy taking pictures with this camera, you need to buy rechargeable batteries that retain charges longer than ordinary Ni MH, such as ' Eneloop ' battery made by Sanyo or ' Recyko ' battery made by GP. There could be similar products of other makes.

This camera does not have ' many problems '. Most, if not all, of the feedbacks are on battery consumption. If you can solve this issue, by using Eneloop or Recyko, you will have no reason to throw it away, unless you wish to upgrade.

Well let's not forget, bukit, that solely having to rely on LCD for photo composition can be severely impaired in bright, ambient light. That alone makes a viewfinder a must.

James,

You got a point, and let everybody, novice or bargain hunter alike, to take note before deciding to buy.

If you have bought E10, well, there is no way out because the camera is not equip with a view finder.

Frankly, I don't get this removing of the viewfinder thing. I mean, I get that people want larger LCD screens and smaller cameras, but it's so short sighted when you consider the tradeoffs for about 1/4-1/2" more real estate. I mean, it's not like you can see alot of detail. I'd rather have more battery time.

If you check the market, more and more new subcompacts have done away with the view finders.
Examples can be found in makes like Sony, Nikon, Kodak, Panasonic, Fuji and Casio. Even Leica has one in D-Lux3, so do Canon in it's SD870is.

This probably means LCD's need of battery power has been overcome, one way or another, and users can now enjoy composing pictures in a bigger and better screen than that offered by the viewfinder.

Having a view finder is a plus, but it does not necessarily mean that without one, user will have battery problem.
E10 probably has more than one way of ' chewing up batteries'. So if you have an E10, just remember to use eneloop or recyko rechargeable.

Oh, I'm very aware of that fact, bukit. And it's a down right dirty shame. But the battery issue isn't the only problem (how can you overcome needing power to run the LCD?). You have the added issue of glare from ambient light when shooting pictures in daylight. I was at the park the other day takign pictures with a camera I was testing that had no viewfinder and it that LCD was downright useless for seeing any kind of detail in composing a picture and reviewing it until I could find a dark place to see.

Well, folks, here we have one vote that say " LCD is downright useless in composing pictures in the Parks".
If you have similar or different experience, you may add to the record.

In your message, do indicate the make of camera you use, the ISO settings, auto or manual, and any other information that will help the novice and the bargain hunter to make a decision.
