my computer can no longer down load pictures from my pentax camera - it use to read (This device cannot start. (Code 10)

it also cannot recongnise the pentax digital camera, despite there is evidence that the pentax driver is installed and up to date

I would use a card reader to load pictures directly from the memory card to the PC.

This would eliminate all problems associated with the camera to PC connection.

The sentence ' the computer can no longer download pictures from the camera ' probably means you have done it before and now it does not work.
Well, there are several reasons to it and, as stated above, using a card reader to load pictures to the PC is still the best way.

If you have a usb cord, then use that. I mean if your card reader doesn't work then you should try other ways of getting your pictures on your computer. Or if your cord doesn't work try a card reader. And if they both don't work then you should try cleaning your devices where they connect, (blow on the usb connectors, or pulg the usb cord into a different outlet.)
