For memory? Hardly. Battery's dont' function as storage devices. And it wouldn't need power to save the files.

Kevin

You are probably talking about the button battery that maintains the memory for the date and time.

If that's it, then there is one, tiny little fellow, soldered to the circuit board and lying just beneath the zoom buttons.

You need to open the plastic cover of the camera to see it.

But understand that opening that cover will void any warranty protection that may be left. But since the warranty expired probably a year ago, have at it! But since it's soldered, you may need to send it in. And with the average cost of a camera repair around $180, it may cost more to repair than it is really worth. The rule of thumb is that if the estimate for repair is north of 50% what you paid for it, you're better off taking that money and buying a newer and upgraded model.

De-soldering the battery is a simple process of touching the + and - terminals with hot tips of soldering iron.
It is a delicate process because the two terminals are about 1mm apart.

I would get some experienced guy to do it if you are not familiar with the job.
