what is a high speed USB port and where can i find it on my computer

to download my pictures it says i need to use a high speed USB port. where can i locate that on my computer?

The location of USB port depends very much on your make of computer.

Latest model, any brand , will have it in front of the casing, sometimes behind a cover that opens with a single press.
Last few years' model will have it at the back of the casing.
Very old model may not have it at all and you got to get a USB card to slot into one of the free slots on the mother board.

High speed USB refers to USB 2 and it is faster although physically, USB2 port and USB 1 port look alike. It is part of the architecture of the motherboard and you either have USB 1 or USB 2 built- in but not both.

It does not matter really if you plug your cable to USB 1. It's a bit slower, but tolerable unless you are in a hurry.

Also, for the Pentax cameras, I think you may need a driver (I know for at least some of the models you do), so you may need to install that from a CD that camera with a camera, or you can find them online.

Well, this one doesn't need a driver.
Just set the camera to ' PC 'and ...... happy downloading.
