The camera has stopped taking pictures.

I press and hold down the shutter (as I always have) but nothing is saved. Deleted all the stored pix, read the manual, reset to original settings but still no luck. The shutter makes all the right sounds but no photos. Can any one help please?

Try using a different memory card in the slot, and see if that makes a difference. If not it sounds like there is either a software issue in recording the pictures or a hardware issue. Try resetting the camera to fix a software issue, otherwise it probably is a hardware issue that you will have to send in to Pentax to fix. If you are still covered in the warranty, they should still do it for free.

Thanks for relying...took it to the Pentax dealer and they did as you recommended re the memory card etc....the camera has now gone in for repair. Have never been happy with the camera's performance from the start. It's impossible to take photos on a sunny day as can't see images in the screen and a there is a long delay between pressing the shutter to shot being taken. As soon as it is returned from the repair putting it up for sale on eBay. Had an Olympus that I loved so will go back to an Olympus...with a view finder for sunny day shots! Thanks again.
